Wild Turkeys!

We have a flock of wild turkeys wandering on the Farm. They like our Bridge!  We see them walking down from The Longs Trail direction, they dally in our front yard then cross the bridge, harass any cars that happen along as they are crossing. One time they created a 3 car hold up in front of our bridge. Anytime one of the drivers got out to shoo the birds along the Tom would flare out and chase the surprised driver back in the vehicle. The Tom then proceeds to walk alongside or in front of the car to prevent it from moving! Eventually the Turks give up and climb the hill on Dave side and traffic begins to flow.

This is a great link about Wild Turkeys in North America.

These are Merriam turkeys. From the website you can scroll down and click on a link that will tell you more about the Merriam breed.

We didn't get any photos of the clash between Turkey and Car. We were too concern about the outcome to think of photographs. Luckily no creature, human or bird, was injured.

I was hoping that I would see these turkeys when we were up there this weekend, but they must like it closer to your place. Maybe, after reading about the Tom, I might not want to encounter them after all!
